The Live Sundays (Domingos Vivos) programme, part of the Vilas Vivas (Living Towns) initiative promoted by the Government of Galicia, kicks off this Sunday, 5 July, in Ribadavia with a varied cultural programme featuring live music during the traditional vermouth session, workshops, tastings, guided tours, shopping for fashion and local crafts, and gastronomy.
Visitors and residents will enjoy a high-quality programme while discovering the new Vilas Vivas shops that will be opening over the coming weeks.
This Sunday, 5 July, the programme begins with a combination of street music and gastronomy. Solo musicians Miguel Cerqueira and Nuno Louro will perform in Praza de San Xoán from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while O Curruncho do Birrán, Colmado de Sabores and O Escaparate will offer craft beers, Ribeiro wines and traditional Galician tapas.
The special programme, which will take place on the first Sunday of every month with different featured artists and activities, begins at 11:30 a.m. This Sunday, the event will be attended by José González, Regional Minister for Employment, Commerce and Emigration, Gabriel Alén, Director-General for Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and César Fernández, Mayor of Ribadavia.
Two new Vilas Vivas businesses on Yáñez Street will also open their doors during this first Live Sunday: O Escaparate, the wine shop of Adega Cume do Avia, and Pequeno Ribeiro, an inclusive community space. Two more businesses will join the initiative in the coming weeks: A Cooperativa do Ribeiro, on Salgado Moscoso Street, and Sarto, a fashion boutique located in Praza Maior.
The programme will continue on 2 August with performances by Marietta and Iago Vázquez from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On 6 September, Bardo Abelardo and DJ Tibu will provide the soundtrack for another Live Sunday, also from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Free Guided Tours of Ribadavia
Starting on Friday, 4 July, and throughout the month, visitors will be able to enjoy two new guided tours of Ribadavia. One explores the town’s medieval heritage and Jewish Quarter, while the other visits some of the region’s most important monasteries and churches. For the first time, participants will be able to enter these churches outside their regular liturgical opening hours.
The first 240 places are free of charge and can be reserved by phone (+34 675 558 545) or through the Genuine Galicia website.

The Live Sundays programme also includes special prize draws and giveaways. From 20 July, customers shopping at participating businesses can collect a Scratch & Win ticket for the chance to win one of 1,000 prizes, including shop discounts, bottles of Ribeiro wine, hotel stays and spa experiences.
Non-winning tickets will automatically be entered into a monthly prize draw, held during every Live Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in Praza de San Xoán.
