For the village

An appealing walk

Ribadavia transports us by enchantment back to the medieval world and the baroque urbanism. The Galician wine capital is the result of the production and commercialization of its wines throughout the last ten
centuries.

Percorre Ribadavia

The walk

We start the walk in the Plaza Mayor to see the Palace of the Counts, the Town Hall Tower and the arcades that reflect the wealth in the 16th century.

We continue through the Jewish Quarter, visiting the eight churches and
the four parishes that ordered the urban fabric. The Romanesque churches of Santiago and San Juan end up in beautiful squares such as La Magdalena, San Juan and García Boente. Also the House of the Inquisition with a singular facade. There are nice views of the Avia River from the wall itself.

On the of the best viewpoints is the Bridge of San Francisco, where is located the
Franciscan convent of San Antonio. On the southern side, connected to the wall, is the Sarmiento Castle, next to the church of El Portal and the Gothic convent of Santo Domingo, a Gothic jewel. To finish this walk, a glass of Ribeiro wine accompanied by the town’s confectionery. A pleasure for kings and queens.
