Representation of the Jews in the Bible of A Coruña
It is curious to see how in the 15th-century Bible of A Coruña, initially unrelated to the anti-Jewish stereotype, Joseph Ibn Hayyim also depicts the Hebrews with schematic pointy hats that resemble berets; for example, the sailors in the episode of Jonah.

The caricature
Usually, the hat, helmet, or headpiece, ending in a point, is accompanied by other features: a bearded face, bulging eyes, a hooked nose, large ears, and a hostile expression, which are only sketched in the Compostela Isaiah, and later develop into caricature, like the Jews who torment Jesus in the 18th-century Baroque altarpieces. The Inquisition would transform the medieval pointy hats into the conical hoods placed on the penitent criminals.
